Day 5 - Holland America Line Cruise

Board the Westerdam for an evening departure.

Day 6 - Omaezaki

Discover this seaside town in the Shizuoka Prefecture, where the rolling hills and wide beaches make it a popular weekend escape. In early spring enjoy cherry blossom festivities as you explore.

Day 7 - Kobe

Used as a gateway for exploration, experiences from Kobe include the ancient capital of Kyoto, the city of Nara, trips on a Shinkansen bullet train, Osaka and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Himeji Castle and Garden.

Day 8 - Kochi

High atop a hill in Kochi sits 17th-century Kochi Castle, once the seat of the Yamauchi lords. Explore this historic site and enjoy panoramic views of the city, then dine on sushi at Hirome Market.

Day 9 - Scenic cruising Kanmon Strait

High atThe Kanmon Strait is a narrow channel of water that separates two of Japan's main islands, Honshu and Kyushu. The channel has long been important to maritime transportation and cargo ships, as it connects the Sea of Japan and the Inland Sea.

Day 10 - Fukuoka

Day 14 - Sakata

This riverside gem sits in the shadow of Mount Chōkai and was a prosperous port during the Edo era, thanks to its location on the Mogami River. It’s a great place to discover old Japan and explore Japan’s first museum of photography.

Day 15 - Aomori

Aomori is a place of quiet strength and natural beauty. Its forests, coastlines, and traditions reflect a deep connection to the land. Life moves with the seasons and it is a lovely place to explore.

Day 16 - Otaru

Your time in Otaru could include a visit to Sapporo, a browse around the Herring Mansion, Otaru was once Japan’s herring capital, or a scenic walk around the Shakotan Peninsula.

Day 17 - Hakodate

If Japan had a wild west, it would have been here in Hokkaido, with its wide open spaces and legendary remoteness.

Day 18 - At Sea
