Day 1 - Tokyo
Arrive in Tokyo for a 3-night stay.
Day 2 & 3 - Tokyo
Tokyo, the vibrant capital of Japan, is a melting pot of cultures, where old temples coexist with modern skyscrapers. A private tour will introduce you to the highlights.
Day 4 - Heritage Line Mekong Cruise
Transfer to My Tho for the start of your 3-night cruise along the Mekong aboard a beautiful riverboat, evocative of the 1930s.
Day 5 - Tokyo
Depart Tokyo early evening.
Day 6 - Mt Fuji
Visit the Mt Fuji World Heritage Centre which boasts a variety of exhibitions pertaining to the volcano’s seismology, history, and cultural significance.
Day 7 - Shingu
Visit the Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine, and Kumano Hongu Taisha Shrine.
Day 8 - Osaka or Kyoto
Today, choose to explore Osaka or Kyoto. Osaka is colourful and bustling and the food capital of Japan. Kyoto is famous for its gardens, imperial palaces, Shinto shrines and traditional wooden houses.
Day 9 - Takoshima
Explore the Otsuka Museum of Art, housing hundreds of artwork pieces. After lunch, visit the famous local Sake Brewery
Day 10 - Shodoshima
Experience the making of the Japanese famous Somen noodle and try your hand at dividing the noodles with long chopsticks
Day 11 - Hiroshima
Forever linked to the World War II tragedy, Hiroshima has since been rebuilt with the Peace Memorial Park now the city’s most prominent feature.
Day 12 - Miyajima
Itsukujima shrine (a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a National Treasure) is one of Japan’s most recognisable symbols with its red torii gate seemingly floating upon the Seto Inland Sea.
Day 13 - Matsuyama
Matsuyama Castle is one of Japan’s 12 original castles and stands at the heart of the city.
Day 14 - Tsushima
Hike the Mt Shimizu trail to the castle ruins where 360° views are on offer and then down through oak and cedar forests.
Day 15 - Jeju
Manjanggul Lave Tubes is a UNESCO Global Geopark site, and regarded as one of the finest lava tube systems in the world.
Day 16 - Sasebo
Visit the historical pottery town of Arita where Japan’s fine porcelain was first produced around 400 years ago.
Day 17 - Goto Island
Goto Island translates into English as the ‘five island chain’. Visit the Kashiragashima Village church, and beautiful Yagotame Park and the Narao
Shrine.
Day 18 - 21 - Fukuoka
Disembark and make your way to your hotel. Spend a few days exploring the city and nearby shrines and temples.
Day 22 - Fukuoka – UK
Depart for the UK.
